In conjunction with "Crowley County Correctional Facility" and other supporters "For Greyhounds" has a new program to help in the placement of our beloved greyhounds, and at the same time help in the rehabilitation of inmates, this program is called "Cell Dogs".

We at "Friends of Retired Greyhounds" are working with the "Crowley County Correctional Facility "to provide retired racing greyhounds for our new cell dog program. This is a program in which retired racers will go to the Correctional Facility for a minimum of 8 weeks for fostering, along with some obedience training, house training , socialization with both people and other animals. They will stay at the facility either until they are adopted to approved new homes, or reach their maximum stay at the prison of 9 months. If not adopted at that time, they will be moved into a regular foster home.

This program will benefit the public by producing dogs that are ready for adoption, and the dogs will benefit by ultimately finding their "forever" home. The inmate handlers benefit by having a loving companion and being able to give something back to the community. This type of program has been very successful throughout the United States and we are happy to have this opportunity here.

All of our funds for this program come from Grants and donations. These generous contributions provide supplies to allow another dog to go into this valuable program. "Friends of Retired Greyhounds" is a non-profit, all volunteer organization; therefore we rely on donations to make things like this happen.
